A lot has happened in the two years since our last update — quickly evolving AI technologies, new research on the harms and benefits of social media, and a whole bunch of new terms to keep up with like sharenting, technoference, and finsta.
We have designed this guide to empower families to navigate their way through today’s increasingly online world. You’ll find information on developmental milestones, the latest research on how kids are using technology and interactive media today, and most importantly, evidence-based recommendations for helping young people of all ages — from birth through young adulthood — build healthy and safe digital habits.
If you’re a parent or caregiver, we hope you’ll find our updated guide useful. If you’re a pediatrician, mental health professional, or educator, this is a great tool for families looking for help.
All our best,
Cori Stott Administrative Director The Digital Wellness Lab
We’re Hiring: Lab Coordinator
We are looking for a highly organized Lab Coordinator to keep our day-to-day running smoothly.
The Lab Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the daily operations of the Lab, collaborating closely with all members of the Digital Wellness Lab team, including faculty, researchers, and staff. They will be a key member of a small, nimble team and will have the opportunity to engage meaningfully in fundraising, finances, and marketing communications. This is a great opportunity for an early- to mid-career professional with a desire to work in the non-profit or healthcare fields.

This week, several members of our team were in Washington D.C. for an Inspired Internet Pledge event: Designing a Roadmap for a Healthier Digital Ecosystem, where we hosted an interdisciplinary discussion on “what do kids need to know and be able to do at each stage in order to enter the digital ecosystem independently as young adults, remaining healthy, safe, and kind in the process?” We are grateful to Pinterest for sponsoring this important event!
Keep an eye out for many exciting happenings to come in the new year including the release of our 2023 Impact Report, two new Pulse Surveys, and our team in attendance at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
