Scary Images and Their Impact on Children
The latest issue of Time magazine features on its cover a graphic picture of an Afghan young women whose nose has been cut-off by the Taliban. Young children can’t always understand scary images they see in the media and parents need to understand that those images may have an impact on children.
CMCH Director, Dr. Michael Rich believes that children will find these images very scary and distressing; they can been seen as “a symbol of bad things that can happen to people.”

CMCH Researcher Awarded 2010 Children’s Clinical Grant
CMCH staff scientist, Dr. David Bickham was recently awarded one of the 2010 Children’s Clinical Research Grants.
The award will support Dr. Bickham’s innovative, pilot research project: “The Impact of Advergames on Food Choice: Implications for Obesity and Nutrition Interventions.”
