Our Amplify Youth initiative represents an approach to digital wellness education that puts young voices at the center of the conversation. We work directly with youth, recognizing that sustainable change happens when we empower young people with agency while simultaneously supporting the systems around them.
Through youth workshops and our annual summit, we’re building a movement that treats young people as partners in creating healthier digital environments for themselves and future generations.
Grounded in research, centered on action
In an era where technology has the power to shape young people’s mental, emotional, and social development, schools, families, and communities often lack the language, tools, and confidence to effectively engage youth in the important conversations around digital media use. The Amplify Youth initiative bridges the gap between what we know from research and real-world application, empowering youth and their communities with the tools they need to thrive in our digital world.
Prevention through education
Rather than waiting for problems to emerge, we focus on building proactive skills and environments that support healthy tech use from the start.
Strengths-based approach
We translate complex science on technology and youth development into actionable, engaging educational opportunities that build on young people’s existing strengths.
Systems-centered thinking
We recognize that adolescents’ relationships with technology are shaped by family, school, peers, culture, and platform design—not just individual choices.
Focus on youth agency and voice
We’re committed to empowering adolescents with agency while supporting the systems around them to create healthier, more balanced digital lives.
Amplify Youth Workshops
Our interactive workshops take an “all-community” approach–bringing together young people, parents and caregivers, educators, clinicians, and others to deliver evidence-based workshops for young people that build self-awareness, self-reflection, and self-regulation skills. Our goal is to equip youth and their communities with practical skills for mindful tech use and digital wellness, while creating meaningful opportunities for them to share their insights and experiences with technology.

2026 Amplify Youth Summit
The mic is on. You in? Hosted by the Digital Wellness Lab, the National Association for Media Literacy Education (NAMLE), and the McGee Applied Research Center for Narrative Studies, the second annual UnMuted: Amplify Youth Summit is taking place this October at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.
Building on the incredible momentum of our inaugural summit, this three-day event brings together bold young leaders, industry experts, nonprofits, and researchers for less adult noise and more youth-driven solutions.
At its core, UnMuted centers youth voices as powerful drivers of change, creating a space for honest dialogue and collaborative problem-solving around mental, social, and emotional health in the digital spaces where young people live, learn, and connect. Through interactive experiences designed for and with youth, participants will help rewrite the script on digital wellbeing, co-creating pathways toward healthier online environments while building the agency, tools, and connections needed to thrive both online and off. The future is being shaped right now, and we’re turning the volume all the way up.
