What’s Happening at the Lab

Convenings

The Digital Wellness Lab convenes experts across technology, media, mental health, youth development, policy, education, and related fields 2–5 times a year to tackle complex, cross-disciplinary challenges in creating a healthier digital ecosystem for young people. Insights from these convenings are published in public white papers and inform future research.

In 2025, we are planning or actively working on the following convenings:

  • Leveraging Interactive Media to Foster Social-Emotional Learning: Exploring opportunities to scale social-emotional learning (SEL) by integrating it into interactive media environments.
  • Actionable AI Guidelines for Children’s Digital Futures: Bridging policy, academic research, and product development to create practical guidance for designing healthy AI tools for young children (ages 2–6).
  • Youth Summit on Digital Wellbeing: Bringing together teens and young adults from corporate and nonprofit youth advisory councils to elevate youth perspectives on media literacy, technology policy, and mental health.
  • Best Practices in Healthy AI Development: Convening experts in academia, youth safety, education, and tech to define core developmental principles for AI-enabled features that prioritize mental health and safety.

We actively seek mission-aligned partners to co-host convenings and welcome additional funding support to expand the reach and impact of these critical cross-sector conversations. If your organization is interested in becoming involved as a financial supporter, please email our Executive Director, Cori Stott.

Just as it’s important to use tech with intentionality and mindfulness, it’s incredibly important for our mental and physical health to slow down, take breaks, and enjoy the world around us. The Digital Wellness Lab was slowing down this month before getting back on the road in September!
